Did I miss something? Why would he leave? He will have two years of eligibility left after 2020 to start after Cushenberry graduates.

Cole Smith redshirted last year. He will be a RS freshman this season and a RS sophomore in 2020.

Someone hasn't seen Parker's film.

Saw Ray Parker when we scrimmaged Ruston last year in pre season, he looked 275 easy then, looked like he had the frame to add 20 lbs easily. I see no way he's 235

There was pictures posted of him at LSU's camp recently, he was most definitely a ton thinner, I would easily believe 230-235. He looked completely different than the pictures from last year when he came in for that visit with all the other top LA kids.

The Rumor Mill says that he wasn't good enough and Apu really exposed him in the spring.

But there is a trend.
Top Linemen leaving.
And you can’t deny that.

What trend for OL in the state?

Besides Van Pran who have we lost in the state on the OL we wanted recently?

2019 we landed Kardell Thomas and Thomas Perry
2018 we landed Dare Rosenthal and Cam Wire
2017 we didnt offer any in-state OL
2016 we landed Donavaughn Campbell and Willie Allen
2015 we lost Jerry Tillery to ND (Who wound up on defensive side of football) but landed Adrian Magee

So literally only lost 1 offensive lineman in the state from 2015-2019 we wanted...and was a guy who was dead set on going to ND from the start, and wound up playing DT anyways

The bigger indictment here is a clear lack of success from Louisiana OLinemen if anything

The last big time Louisiana OL we wanted and lost who saw success on the college level on the OL was Cam Robinson from 2014 class. There's also Cody Ford at OU but we never offered.

Okay. You’ve got me here. Because I have crossed over into dline.....even though I started an Oline thread.

However, I was responding to macklin about guys who want out of Louisiana and I was referring to some dline men.

It really didn’t help my case and I regret even saying that.

But here is my problem above all that. While there is a lack of Oline talent in La. we can’t afford to miss on instate guys (even one).

Oline and dline are the places where you can’t miss. I hate having to mention these two, but Alabama and Georgia are on top of the SEC due to line play. (even though Uga “is attritioning” by the day).

When we won our two national championships, our lines were top 5 in the nation.

Georgia is recruiting excellent linemen that will go in behind the other two excellent classes of linemen. They are having three years worth of 4-5 stars competing to find the top 5 guys among them. It only helps.

LSU's 2021 class will resemble the 2020 class- only it will be heavy on o-linemen instead of D-linemen.

They got guys two years ago like5 stars Jemaree Salyer, trey hill Cade Mays and another four star center.

And LSU beat Ga. this past season. Regardless what star a kid is given, they still have to get on the field in college and play, and that's when you find out what kind of football player they really are. I think LSU's dline held it's own against Ga. last season, and LSU's oline did a pretty good job too. With more experience our oline will not miss assignments like they did last season. This season they are older and smarter and will be much improved.

quote:

They are keeping in state talent .

Not true. The HS population in Ga. more than doubles that of La. And in this years commits Ga. has 5 out of 14 from Ga. In the 2019 class the had 6 out of 24 signees from the state of Ga. In 2018 they had 14 out of 24 from Ga. In 2017 17 out of 25 from Ga. In 2019 Ga. had 40 players rated 4 star or better, Of those 40 5 went to Ga. Of the top 10 in that class only 2 went to Ga. In 2018 Ga had 40 4 stars or better, of those 12 out of 40 went to Ga. Of the top 10 6 went to Ga. They lost the number 1 QB in the nation to Clemson. In 2017 Ga had 33 4 star or better. 15 of the 33 went to Ga. Of the top 10, 5 went to Ga.
Just making a point that Ga. loses a greater percentage of their 4 and 5 star players to out of state schools than does LSU. That state produces enough talent Ga should never need to go out of state.

Apparently they do. A lot more than Louisiana.

I can give you that. But we lost to aTm and Florida.

I also want to cede that publication unit rankings aren’t as end-all as win-loss

But it is consensus that UGA-BAMA are 1 & 2 With no outliers.
Uga does lose some talent but look at who they add to the their lines.

And for this conversation I want to talk just about the Trenches.

We could stand to add four more good ones here.

Maybe if Vol sees this he can chime in but hope LSU goes hard after the center from Cali Murao! Kid looks to be a beast.

I tend to believe O and staff are satisfied with the progress Dare and Wire are making. If not I'd think they would be hitting the oline a little harder. But after 2019 the dline is going to take a hit. Could always benefit from more good olinemen, no doubt. I suppose they are counting CamRon as an oline and Martinez will be better that his rating, IMO. It looks as though they want 2 more, Dummerville, Johnson, Lindberg, Crawford and Ford are still in the mix I think. Getting 2 of those would be a good oline haul. I just think they need more dline this class than oline. Like I said, if they weren't pleased with the progress of Dare and Wire, I think they'd be hitting the oline harder. But bringing in Kardell and Bradford from last season will help a lot on the line this season.

I agree. Maybe when it comes down to signing Van Pran will have a change of heart and decide to stay close to home, IDK. Wishful thinking.

I don’t see that happening. Kid wants to leave the state.

If he knocks up his girlfriend or something I guess things could change.

Oh ok, that's a big surprise, he did not look like the kind of guy that was going to lose weight, I figured he'd be 295 by now, will say that his athleticism at that size and weight were incredible. Blocking was destructive, caught a swing broke a tackle then ran for 50-60 yard TD. Best prospect I saw last year....gonna be very good wherever he plays
