It was a dumb hire. I don't know if it was pushed on Orgeron, but they clearly didn't share the same vision on offense. That's a huge fricking problem and set this team back another year making the change. All the young guys that were progressing had to go learn an entirely different offense again.
I'm pretty sure Orgeron all but said that hire was pushed on him.
As for the "by game 3" comment. We ran a bunch of stuff against State in game 3. None of it worked. Canada ran his offense against State and our defensive line was getting worked. Canada lacked the ability to slow it the frick down and try to keep the defense off the filed. He insisted on trying to fake everybody out by running Etling or faking an Etling run. It was a bad hire from jump.

Exactly. Against BYU and Chatanooga, some of it looked okay. But against speedy SEC defenses, it was strictly high school shite.

That's not why LSU lost that game, State scored enough points in the 2nd quarter to win. They weren't scoring those points because the defense was gassed in the 1st half, Mullen was simply out-scheming Aranda. It wouldn't be his last time to do so either.

And yet LSU running Canada's offense scored more points in one game than LSU scored in the two other games against Alabama under O.
I thought Canada's scheme was a good one. It spread the opposing defense out, and ran the ball in the gaps. LSU would do this occasionally under Arnsparger the year before, with good success, but not very often. I was hoping year two of Canada would include more passing from the same formations.
