He'd have been amazing with an actual team with talent around him. He was running for his life the entire time he was here. He was one of the only reasons to watch Saints football for a long time.

This. Anybody who thinks Archie was a terrible QB doesn't know how terrible those early Saints teams really were.

this is the only correct answer ^^^^^^

he was good, not necessarily great but a damn good QB who never had a chance to be great because he was the only member of the team worth a damn.

by the end he was less about being good and more about staying alive. he was a lot like those games watching johnny manzel at A&M, he had to make plays all on his own while being chased by no less then 3 guys on every play

most fair minded fans feel guilt about ruining the mans career but we were glad to have him and he was the only reason we watched the saints back then

If history had been a little different, and Bradshaw had wound up with the Saints and Archie with the Steelers- the Saints would have been even worse, and the Steelers, instead of winning four Super Bowls in that era, would have gotten 6 or 7 rings.

That fact the he is the only player to be MVP of his conference while on a losing team 1978 the saints were 7-9. That should tell how good he was when he had a competitive team around him. Plus not to mention the respect he got from his peers.
