Closing Dumas Golf Course is a damned shame. It is a B.R. tradition and was designed by former mayor Woody Dumas. The course is well laid out and is fairly challenging.

Dumas Golf Course is garbage.

It would have done better in South BR near Prairieville but that was racist

They should have moved it to where Cortana Mall is now.

That would have been interesting. Currently it’s not much better than where the zoo is now but Broadmoor has been on an uptick lately with homes being remodeled and is right across Florida blvd from Cortana. Could have been a big piece to bring back the whole area

I don't think Cortana flooded at all.

If not a zoo, it should be something related to distribution - being located at the intersection of two major highways.

Been to the zoo many times. We have never felt unsafe or had any issues. Actually, it is right off of I-110. So, it isn't like you are driving through projects or the hood.

Your statement really just shows how ignorant people are about the current zoo.

And that is one of the main reasons why I support keeping it there. Because if people can be wrong about the current location being in some kind of third world war zone then they are probably wrong about the cost of a new one or how much people will really visit a new one etc.

Clark park is where the First Tee of EBR is located. The layout of the course helps kids learn to play.

We had our company picnic/family day there last weekend.

I don’t ever need to go back there. What a giant piece of shite of a zoo.

Number one reason I don't go to the zoo...it is too far away from the house. That is the biggest problem with the zoo and they choose to completely ignore that problem. The core audience, middle class with young kids, is in Ascension and Livingston. If you have an area having trouble keeping grocery stores, you probably aren't going to have much luck with a zoo.

I have an uncle that is in assisted living in Zachery and I go twice a week to take him out for the day. We often go to Greenwood park and play tennis, disc golf or take my dog to the dog park. Sometimes we get chicken from the Blue Store and eat at one of the picnic tables and have been to the zoo several times. In total, we have been in the park or zoo well over 100 times in the last 2 years and I have never once seen anything that gave me pause.

People often bitch about things they know nothing about because it fits tOT's talking points.

These are really good plans. Putting the entrance off of 19 is a great idea.

Fundraising this is going to be a bitch. Our new Superintendent has inherited a lot of bull shite about this. If BREC would’ve just listened a few years ago, they wouldn’t have promised renovating greenwood in addition to zoo renovation costs.

I love BREC but they made a public promise to not drop this renovation cost in the lap of taxpayers, and I’m really concerned they’re going to frick this up. For 5 years now they’ve been saying they hope that “donors” will step up.
