Maybe at the national level where it takes big money for them to even remember your name but money given to Sheriff and Mayor and DA candidates is well spent. Depending on your line of work moderate donations to statewide campaigns might be worth it.

Just don't give it to the RNC. They use it for whatever and whoever they want.
