This information came out last October. LSU issued a statement then. The only new info today were more quotes on the recording.

Some of you don't pay attention.

Those quotes that came out today talk about Javonte Smart. Since he ended up at LSU that is a bit more troublesome for Wade and LSU. Much different than before.

Unless there's more audio that's not too vague to not have multiple possible valid meanings and interpretations, it's not that troublesome.

The offer is clearly a scholarship offer. At LSU for that matter. Do any LSU fans/alums disagree that an offer to play basketball at LSU is a damn good offer?

That to me IS a damn good offer.
I would have LOVED to have been offered to play scholarship basketball at LSU. One of my high school teammates played at LSU and one of my favorite LSU sports monents of all time was when he actually played and scored in a real game.

The recruiting pitch was geared too heavily towards convincing his mother and family that their son/brother/cousin/nephew/grandson would be in good hands with Wade and LSU. He probably promised to personally ensure that he behaves and goes to class, if I had to guess.

Javonte wanted guaranteed playing time. Wade eventually conceded this, a decision I think we all agree has turned out for the best for all parties.

That is what he meant with the 'not getting a big enough slice of the pie' remarks.

It's obvious if you think about it. Money to pay recruits isn't an issue. If the guy's good enough he'll get paid. Everyone knows that. The coaches don't facilitate this shite, and to think they do is naive. That's not to say they are never involved at all but they're not the ones dealing with middlemen. It's not even worth discussing. If a program sells a guy that they want on committing the money will be there. The fricking coaches aren't haggling over money.

Playing time on the other hand is a finite thing. There are only 200 minutes to go around. Hence the pie chart reference. Each player's PT is his "slice of the pie."

We have good guys redshirting kind of inexplicably for having an 8 man rotation. Perhaps this is because Wade had to promise however much PT to Javonte and Edwards (at one point arguably our best outside threat) was expected to play. Maybe with Naz and Tremont leaving they promised those two guys major minutes next year if they agreed to redshirt. They'll get their "slice" next year.

All of these are perfectly reasonable explanations for the audio that has been released.

Can anyone prove that the above isn't true?

I'm not even a lawyer and my guess that the people who are would do better than that.

If anything happens (like an NCAA investigation) nothing still may come of it unless there's another call with specifics.

I'm just saying that nobody knows for a fact that what I said above isn't true. What I said is not unreasonable and for all any of us know could be the truth.

I understand the melting. I just don't see any need for it at this point. I've seen nothing so far that would merit any kind of punishment.

I'm doubting there's anything "worse" yet to come because one of those hacks would have released it by now in a bid to be first.

Relax people. It's going to be okay.
