I'd get a 7-8wt. Be fun enough for bass and you can still catch reds/specks on it. I'm not a big fan of Orvis gear but the H3s do throw really nicely. Look at the TFO BVK 9' rod and an Allen Fly Fishing reel. Not entirely sure what your budget is but that would get you a really nice setup to see whether you enjoy it or not. Also, don't skimp on fly line. I really like the Wulff Bermuda Triangle Taper.

Of course they do, they are $900

I've been watching the internet for another H2 1 piece now that the H3's are out there and one thing I've noticed is the price for a gently used Recon is really good. In my opinion the H2 and the Recon are really close. Maybe even too close.
