If I wanted the pros and cons on buying or not buying a handheld GPS his opinion would be valid. I simply asked for recommendations on a handheld. I have used onX and HuntStand on my phone in years passed and have decided to buy a handheld gps. The benefits with it instead of using my phone out weight the price. I would much rather run the batteries down on a handheld gps as to my cell on a full day of scouting. I have ran into this many times scouting my own land.

What real benefit are you gaining besides not using your phone? It's not the altimeter for LA, MS, AL, or IL. Is it so you can check the barometric pressure?

It appeared to me that you wanted one because you thought you needed cell service. That's why I got in the thread, to help you. It's ok, I've had to edumacate several people on it. Now it appears that you just want one and that's ok too

Going to Illinois won't change the fact that you can still do that.

Battery bar.

Waste your money. I don't care but for a 40 buck bad arse battery bar you don't need to spend 400 for a basic hunt in Illinois.

Btw....I would go with the Oregon.
