Why? Getting swept by Texas in baseball means absolutely nothing to our season goals. A win over Texas in football is way, way more important to our season goals. A loss in football is much more detrimental than baseball.

Not so sure. If we win the SEC we're in the playoffs. The sips have no bearing on that.
Go 11-1 and don't win the division? The crooked selection committee will say it's nor fair to put a team in the playoffs if they don't even make it to the SECCG.
