Pay someone a flat fee to oversee the build and sub it out yourself. You can take your time throughout the whole process and should be able to build it for a decent price. This will obviously be more time consuming.

I’ve heard of ppl doing that saderade. The GC is basically a consultant, helps price out the build, offers suggestions on subs and other things related to the construction, but it’s up to you on what subs you hire, etc. Can save you a lot of money if you have time and know good subcontractors.
