what you literally did is show me five schools that made decisions that have no bearing on LSU. there is no "industry standard" here.

What i did was show five other SEC schools that conducted business the same way, i.e. gave a coach an extension with years remaining on their contract that bit them in the arse. SO when it comes to saying whether it's "industry practice" that's absolutely relevant.

does that mean that Iowa was ahead of the curve as far as setting this protocol in FBS?

No, it means Iowa plays the same game as everyone else. They are more scared of a coaching search than making their coach earn his salary.

if we were concerned with following "industry standard" or "protocol" LSU would have not hired a guy who was on the coaching staff of the man they fired if they wanted a "fresh start".

Industry practice is they are scared of a coaching search and they will pay what they need to pay to avoid one. They knew Ed Orgeron would take the job, so they gave him a low HC salary and a big payroll for his assistants to avoid searching for someone else when Herman stalled.

no, its not absolutely relevant.

The SEC has become nothing more than Nick Saban and a bunch of people playing catch up. whether its the "lets hire a saban assistant" route (UGA, UT, aTm, USCe), or the "lets just not spend a ton of money because we want to wait til saban retires" (Ole Miss, Mizzou, Vandy, LSU) route. Saban killed the SEC.

so what does that have to do with extending him 2 years into the 5 year deal that you just mentioned? you are making absolutely no sense here.
