Unless my kid was very, very good with a small chance of going pro and an excellent chance of getting a scholarship then I'd say a big nope. It's not about money, it's about time. My daughter played travel softball and overall I regret it. So much of the family's time was devoted to one family member's pursuit.

I have a friend whose daughter played travel ball. She was very successful and was a star on her team. Played on the same team "Louisiana Patriots" I think was the name of the team as a few of LSU's elite players. She ended up earning a scholarship and getting a education so that worked out. I never saw any signs of it but I often wondered if her brother had any resentment. He ended up joining the military straight out of school. other than help getting a car loan I don't know of much that his parents did for him. Everything they did was for her and pursuing her goals.
