A Tribute To My Dad And All Those That Can’t Be With Us At The Dome Today

I’m feeling especially emotional this NFC Championship morning.
I lost my dad last March. He and I have been going to games together my entire life. He is an original saints season ticket holder and I now own the account.
He was so excited about this season. On his death bed his request was for me to bring home another super bowl. I laughed and told him I would bring enough hell in the seats as I could as a fan to help make that a reality.
I miss him so much today. Here’s to all those past and present that can’t be with us in the dome!

I’m so sorry.
Nobody was a bigger Saints fan than my grandfather. Growing up, he was the one that represented Saints fandom to me. He died during the 2009 season, from dementia, never understanding a thing about the run he witnessed half of.

Lost my Great Uncle in 2007, never got to see 2009. Took me to several seasons of losses in the early 90's, took them all hard - he'd be so happy right now.

Right there with you, my dad was a die hard Saints and LSU fan. I have carried on his traditions through the years for every game, and that includes cooking something fricking awesome before the games. So today I'm cooking chilli.

My dad is day to day right now. He’s been battling cancer for years now. I was hoping he’d make it to see another super bowl but it’s not looking like it

Yeah, My dad passed in 2004 but I have great memories of listening to and watching the Saints be lovable losers. Some of my best memories are of listening to Saints home games while shore fishing the Irish Bayou and similar areas or him shucking oysters for the two of us in the garage in November/December. We didn't go to many home games because my parents sacrificed entertainment to send my siblings and I to private schools.

Let’s pull a little more magic out and take this thing all the way

Last game I watched with my dad was the 06 NFCCG.
Lost him suddenly and unexpectedly after that game.
The 07 and 08 seasons I wasn’t able to follow as closely because it just felt off not being able to talk with him about the team and the season. Watching games just wasn’t the same.
I guess enough time had passed because I went into the 09 season excited and feeling like I could finally enjoy football again.
Was living in DC at the time and was there for the Redskins game (no I’m not the mystery Who Dat fan ), and felt like dad was there with me.
When Meach stripped that ball I had no doubt the season was ours and Dad and all of our dads up above were making it happen.
Made it home for the NFCCG as well. Turned down tickets for the Super Bowl because I wanted to be home watching it to truly savor every moment. Got snowed in the entire week after the game so watched it at least once a day every day that week.
I won’t be making the decision to stay home if we make the SB this time. Skipped coming back for NFCCG and will be in Atlanta to see Drew give it another shot

Lost my dad in March as well. Hate that the last play we saw together was the Minnesota miracle.

My mom died the night of the mulligan bowl of a stroke. The college football Illuminati took her out.

My grandfather passed away this week. He taught me football, and especially how to love the Saints (he was a former season ticket holder from pre-Dome days). The last time I saw him smile was last weekend when I asked him if he was going to watch the game vs the Eagles.
Hopefully him and Benson are watching from the owners box in heaven.

To my Brother who was a huge fan..We talked Saints/LSU at least three times a week. He has been gone 6 and half years and I still haven't found anyone that knows the Saints like he did.

Lost my old man to cancer before the first SB. One of my favorite memories with my dad was learning how to cook and bbq before a saints game. I miss him every game but make sure I try to build those kind of memories with mine.
