Cougar High is probably one of the top mid-major athletic departments and WVU is probably one of the bottom power 5 departments.

I think he and WVU were kind of over each other. A lot of the fanbase was starting to turn on him.

He gets a new start at a school he has experience at. I think this is a win-win.

WVU isn't the bottom of power 5 conferences. They aren't bluebloods either but they are a solid tier 2 program. Along the same lines as VT, Michigan State, Iowa, South Carolina Etc.

How so

When combining Football and Basketball WVU is one of the better schools out there

Oliver Luck before he left set the Athletic department up for success

For a state of only a million people and virtually no instate talent pound for pound we are a good Athletic department

A clean break was needed. 8 years and no real progress despite having some really talented teams.
