I hear this a lot and I think it’s a mixed bag. Sure, they concern themselves over the little things like not wearing the same shoes with dress X twice, that they do for other women. But that’s probably because other women will notice and guys won’t.

I think they are wearing makeup for women and men. Just trying to put their best foot forward. Not necessarily for the opposite or same sex, just because they want to look their best and it’s socially acceptable for women to include makeup as part of that.
