He applied for a bunch of on field passes for program boosters, people that were giving money to him, for the championship game in the Dome. His bosses told him they didn’t want people on the field just because they gave money to the program. They ordered him to withdraw the pass applications.

Come game time, the boosters were on the sidelines. People asked the administration about it and they called the Coach in on it. He basically said “I went ahead and got them passes.” So they fired his arse.

Whether you think the boosters should be on the field or not, when the boss says not to do something and you do it anyway... well... you get fricking fired.

Principal Sandy Pizzolato is the answer you're looking for.

I was part of the 1991 walk out at Woodlawn for Coach Kenny Almond. He was/is one of the best basketball coaches in the state and was being fired for undisclosed reasons. The entire school planned a walkout to the stadium one morning. It Came to light that our AD Mike Moock simply didn't get along with Almond.
The teachers supported the walkout and let us go to the stadium. It worked.

TLDR If the AD or principal doesn't like a coach, they gone, unless the entire student body and faculty stand up to them and for the coach/teacher.
