Trying to listen to Malice from John Gwynn. Really struggling to get into it after a few chapters

It took me a while to get into that book as well. I ended up really enjoying it and the entire series, but the worldbuilding felt pretty stereotypical and shallow at first. It just didn't pull me in. It does get better, though if you stick with it.

It starts slow but a lot of character building. Some little things that seem insignificant get callbacks toward the end of the story.

But by the end of book 2 I literally could not put it down.
