Barry Sanders having a bad OL is still the biggest widespread myth in the last few decades of the NFL.
Barry had multiple pro bowlers block for him over the course of his career amongst an around league average OL. The reason people thing he had a terrible OL was because of he spiraled backwards behind the line so much, not because his OL was actually bad.
This isn't the best metric but there really isn't a widely available good way to rate OL, so--Sanders's Olinemen earned 9 pro bowls over his 10 year career. For comparison, AP has had 6 over 10 years, Frank Gore has had 8 over his 12 year career, Faulk had 9 over his 12 year career, Tomlinson had 8 over his first 10 years.
I'm not going to type them all out but in 1993 he had: Lomas Brown (7x probowl & 1 first team all-pro) , Kevin Glover (3x probowl), Bill Fralic (4x probowl, 2x first team all-pro), and Dave Lutz.

Common myth. Barry mostly had good lines in Detroit.
Awwww youth.... You have ZERO clue what you are talking about when it comes to Batrry Sanders and the Lions of the early 90's..... I watched almost every game and Barry had to creat more yards because of his abilty than what his o-line was giving him... Please do some homework...........

Seems like he can't stay healthy for a full season.
I wish him the best.
I wish him the best.

Did you never see Barry or Gayle Sayers pass the line of scrimmage. There were broken ankles all over the field.
He never saw this because he gets all his info from books......

I'm still on the fence about Barry Sanders being human. Never seen any back - ANY BACK - so often make something out of nothing. As for Leonard Fournette, I have to agree with other posters. His circumstances and injuries are the difference. Imagine him in the Saints backfield with Kamara, instead of Mark Ingram. Nothing against Ingram, but Fournette would be in the coversation with Gurly, Bell, and any other running backs currently considered the best in the NFL. Also, let's not forget that he's still only 23 years old.

Got to be excited this year for LF7, he really turned it around. Offseason conditioning, getting his head straight was key. Without Minshew mania, Jax would be talking LF7.
