Tap the brakes - I put more of the blame for this loss on the defense than the offense, but the defense has been outstanding for significant stretches.

They needed 1 stop and just couldn't buy one. The defense played essentially 2 full games (55 to 60 snaps is a standard game, and they were out there for ~110 at last count) shorthanded in the secondary.

No - he is a defensive genius. He is probably the best assistant coach in college football. Frankly, we need more work on the offensive side than defense, however much I credit the offense to essentially making every score they needed to win the game on Saturday.

that's the part that concerns me...
the D lost us the game w ND last year.
4th quarter...bad defense, we lost.

something happens that we become soft at times..this is obvious and needs correcting.
At this time is is not a firing situation, but needs corrected A LOT OF MONEY is being paid to have a good D.
