I mean, surely you realize when people say "nobody" they don't LITERALLY mean nobody. Hell, Hal Mumme still gets jobs!
Him finally getting a job at Kansas is about as close to confirming the dude wasn't in any real demand as you can come because it tells you 2 things.
1. He actually wanted a job for realz
2. He fricking had to settle for Kansas!!
