Being a vet got him into the political realm. That's what I meant.

His first step into the swamp (political realm) was during his final tour of duty as the Navy liaison to the U.S. Senate in 1977. After leaving service, he immediate ran for U.S. Representative for AZ in 1982.
Sure, he used his service and POW status to get into Club of Elites... but his last name, swamp funding, and willingness to prey on the common man kept him there.
