Another Tiger fan asked me to post this for you all. It's just a small sample of things to do in Gainesville if you like to eat and drink. I hope if you come you have a good trip.

Basically, here is a list of things that I would think would be fun from an eating and drinking perspective:

1. Midtown - just a shite show of drinking. Nothing particularly great here, but a ton of dirty bars and drunk students. Can be amusing at times, but I've gotten a bit old for it now. Will be intensely pro-gator, obviously, as this is right across from the stadium. Basically stretches from the Swamp restaurant to the social at midtown.

2. Downtown - So much to do down here.
--Want fine dining? Check out the Paramount, Manuels Vintage Room (my personal favorite) or Marks Prime.
--Want good mixed drinks? Try Madrinas, or The Dime, or If It Is (might be all one word IfItIs)
--Want good cuban food? Go to Emilianos. Or if you want gloriously bad but amazing Cuban food, go to Flaco's -it's open late, one of my favorite places to eat while drunk.
--Want some decent food, shenanigans, and some pool? Go to Boca Fiesta. Mexican style food, very tasty and a good atmosphere. Inside or outside bar.
--Arcade bar - what more is there to say? Drink and play games at the same time.
--Want more of a hipster experience but at a place with really great food? Go to the Top.
--Want some really great Ramen? Go to Crane Ramen.
--Want decent sushi and a nice bar? Go to Dragonfly.

There is just so much to do downtown, I could go on and on. I drink way to much alcohol down there.

3. Off the beaten trail:
--Satchel's pizza - just go. Get the salad and some pizza. You will thank me.
--Pearl Country Store & Barbecue - it's a bit outside of town BUT frickING WORTH IT
--First Magnitude Brewing - A brewery with good beer. Near downtown.
--Swamphead Brewing - Another brewery, not too far from campus. Still a drive, can't walk it. Good beer as well.
--Public & General - Sandwiches & salads offered in a vintage-chic pub with outdoor seating & a gourmet market. Interesting place, I liked it. Pretty new.

There's lots of other stuff to do in Gainesville in the eating and drink department, but that should keep you busy.

For breakfast the next morning, obviously Gainesville will be packed on Sunday morning - good options include:
Peach Valley
The Mill
Flying Biscuit
Bagels Unlimited
Metro Diner
Afternoon
The top - Brunch
Bonefish - Brunch with all you can drink mimosa's = underrated, but on the more expensive side

Have a good trip!

I agree with almost everything on that list BUT...

Stay away from:

3. Off the beaten trail:

I ate there a week ago... I won't be going back.

This place is NOT GOOD comparatively speaking. Is it better than little caesars and pizza hut? Debatable, but it is not better than any other pizza place around town.

Plus it is cash only, and all the female waitress are fat dirty hipsters that down wear bras... Rough to look at.

For pizza, you are better off going to V-Pizza downtown.

I went to LSU now I am over here in Gator land...

If you like AM Mart next to LSU's campus, then this is the place to go.

Hogan's Great Sandwiches

Inside is really cool too. Half of the place is a bar and all throughout they have a bunch of WWII memorabilia. Pictures of aircraft, maps, 50 cal and tommy guns, 1911's, etc.

Also, more emphasis should be put on the Top downtown. Excellent FOOD, and flying biscuit or maple street biscuit company for breakfast or lunch.

doing it wrong, best course of action is to minimize time in Gainesville, swoop in, kick arse, then GTFO

This is literally the only person I have ever met that didn't like Satchel's pizza.

Also Big Lous or Piesanos is better than V-pizza, but hey people are so different with pizza.

Also yes - Hogan's is also VERY good.

Once you have had Pizza Time in St. Augustine you will understand. (Rated second best pizza in the U.S.)

I have had pizza all over the world. I know good pizza, I know average pizza... This place is average.

Also, I didn't say it was bad. I just said compared to other pizza it is not good.

That place is average at best. But if you want to eat your pizza inside of a VW Bus then this is the place to go!

I wasn't saying V-Pizza is all that good either, but in my opinion, it is better and much closer to campus.
