Not all Tulane fans hate LSU, mostly just the old timer die-hards.
I have run into my fair share of 20 and 30-somethings that loathe LSU, also.
Do you know the history of why Tulane left the SEC? I know a lot of random facts from that era, but that one has escaped me. Obviously looking back at it now, it would have probably been in their best interest to stay in the league. If Vandy could survive, surely Tulane could have also.

Tulane left the SEC because they wanted to "de-emphasize" athletics and focus on academics. For a school that is supposed to be smart, this decision makes no Damn sense. There was also talks of forming a "southern ivy league" that never fell through.

You know a lot of random facts but dont know that? Jesus what a twat.
Tulane left the SEC for the same reason they did not become the first 'southern team' to play in the rose bowl game (which they would play in a few years later).
Academics. The president wanted to focus more on academics AND he didn't think staying in the SEC was smart for the program. He knew the program was struggling in the conference and felt going independent was the best option.
