Driving to Nashville from BR. Which is the better route to take? Google maps says the distance and the time are the same.

TIA

The route where you're not in Mississippi for most of your trip.

Just drive through Tuscaloosa at 90 mph like every Louisiana car I see on the interstate around here.

I've made that drive dozens and dozens of times.

Go 59.

If you aren't going at least 85 mph on 55 between Jackson and Oxford you're going to get blown past. Can't speak to the average speed traveled on 59

The most scenic route is the one that takes you thru Tupelo and onto the Natchez Trace IMO. I would go 55 no doubt.

It comes down to whether or not you're going to hit Bham or Memphis at rush hour.

40 between Memphis and Nashville sucks, but 55 is basically vacant from Jackson to Memphis. I’d probably go that way just to avoid 20.

I can tell you that 59 in Alabama has a lot of construction on it.

Just drove that route just last week. I took 59. Only construction or traffic I was slowed in was in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham I don't remember. It went from 3 lanes to 1.

55 so you can avoid Alabama. I swear the cops there just look for Louisiana license plates to pull over.

Having to go through Bham to go from 59 to 65 is horrible.

we are in baton rouge and have kids in nashville. we've done both, but strongly prefer 59 to 55. i think we went 55 the second time i went, then said never again. not sure why now.

i may need to reconsider now that the boobie bungalow closed.
