LSU is still considerably cheaper than colleges in other states. Louisiana needs to get rid of the TOPS program in order to compete with other institutions. It's ridiculous that a kid with a 3.0 high school GPA can get the majority of their school paid for by the state. There's a reason that we can't afford the facilities and faculty of other state schools..

TOPs will be cut within the next 5-10 years. The Baton Rouge apartment market is going to go straight into the shitter when this happens. Lots of parents can afford expensive rent when they're only paying $800 a semester in tuition. Put that figure at $6000 a semester and El Cid will be a happening spot.

for reference, Georgia Tech (a public school) has the following in-state costs:

$5,000 tuition per semester
$1,200 fees per semester

That's $6,200 per semester. There are no BA degrees that are offered, so at least most students who graduate will go into careers that are profitable.

They need TOPS for day care. Im paying LSU tuition rate for someone to wipe my child's arse and feed bottles.
