I agree that Mississippi and especially Arkansas would be uninteresting to visit.
I've been to Chicago and St. Louis a few times and liked it though. Some places in the Midwest are interesting.

People in MS and Arkansas are probably glad to hear this. Arkansas has some pretty awesome scenery and places like Hot Springs that are amazing. Mississippi, absent the delta is pretty great, too. It certainly has some amazing outdoor areas, and always odd that so many people in La dump on them, but so many LA people buy or lease land in MS. As much as it pains me to say it, Oxford is pretty awesome place and the coast (absent the ugly beaches) has a lot of great culture.
I can think of a reason to visit every state. They all have something unique to offer. Despite all the political hatred amongst conservatives and liberals, this is a pretty amazing country.
