Yep. Don't need phone. It'll sync to it when you get home if you want it to.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I think the way it works is you sync Garmin connect phone app w Strava phone app, and when you get home/back to phone, and your watch syncs w Connect, then Connect syncs w Strava.
