I know there was hope, but a switch hitter catcher with good defense is hard to come by. We got Pap a few years ago but Romo is ahead of him offensively by a wide margin

That JUCO catcher from Texas that there was a thread about on this board a little while back has started retweeting LSU stuff again. I wonder if the staff is covering their bases for potentially losing Garza.

Today we should start finding out what sr or other draft eligible players might want to start pro career
Around college baseball

I think with Romo drafted Garza will come back
He’s guaranteed the dh job and will still get to catch several games
If Garza can be more consistent at plate he will still push Milazo to improve his offense as well

Incoming freshman Brooks Rice threw 2 innings, struck out 5, walked 1, touches 94mph in his summer league debut in Mississippi

Supposed to go to the northwoods league, but I don’t remember which team. They have pods of teams starting up in July. Just haven’t seen all the rosters yet.

What is the window for mlb teams to sign the $20000 free agents?
Can they evaluate any draft eligible players throughout the summer?

I assume Aug 1st when the signing deadline is.

That’s great to hear about Rice.

Undrafted players can sign up until the next semester. They have a little extra time to weigh their options

Aside from the high arm slot, the scouting report on Rice reminds me of Fontenot. Low 90s fastball with a ton of sink and a killer breaking ball. I’d assume he’s projected as a reliever.

On that note, which pitcher recruits most likely going to be starters? Floyd? Money?

Rice has had to work on repeating him mechanics with consistently and I’d list him as a reliever just in case he doesn’t have his control.

To me Floyd can be a day one setup man. Him and Fowler have nasty stuff.

Millas and Money seem to be eventual starters and I would also say Floyd could become a starter in 2022 as needed.

I'm not sure if the article was a little outdated but it had SS Luke Leto as the number one recruit in the 2021 class and C Ian Moller as the number 4.

It is hard to get too excited about top baseball recruits because they usually go pro but I still like it.
