I don't know if I can come up with a real definition for what people are defining as sexual assault anymore.
It used to seem fairly clear. Physical assault which included touching the butt breasts or genitals is probably how I would have described it. If we broaden out to describe sexual harassment I would have said something that involved a sexual quid pro quo.
Now people (typically after the relationship ends) are describing unwanted kissing, oral sex performed before consent was given, sexual jokes, etc as what seems to amount to a near legal equivalent of a stranger grabbing you by the crotch.
That doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense. Especially not unless you really want to see 99.9% of ended relationships be potential grounds for labelling both parties sexual predators. We can't have a legal system that really allows prosecution (or persecution) for the kinds of innocent flirting we hope our parents used early in their courtship.
