Actually, Hwy 84 is open all the way from Portland to Hood River. Only the Scenic Hwy is still closed for part of the way (and many hiking trails off the Gorge).
I'm heading out that way for 10 days next week.
--Portland, Gorge, Hood River, Mt. Hood, Bend, Crater Lake, then Willamette Valley Wine Country. Should be epic.
