Do away with standardized testing. It is the downfall of our education system. As DJT would say, “a complete disaster.”

For the life of me, I cannot understand why some people are against the BEST way of improving schools - mandatory testing.
The USA ranks behind a lot of countries when aptitude is measured in all kinds of subjects. 20th in math and so on.
The countries ahead of the USA like Finland, Korea, Canada, Germany, France all of them have one thing in common, frequent and vigorous testing.
I went to a German High School after also attending a USA High School and the German school was much were vigorous and we all took it more seriously because we knew test would determine whether we graduated or not.

NYC schools are again promoting students who aren’t ready for the next grade
When summer school begins Thursday, thousands of kids will be absent.
That’s because Mayor de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña are letting them off the hook, promoting them to the next grade without requiring summer catch-up classes, even if they’re not ready.
Schools now focus more on teachers’ OPINIONS and less on test scores.
The upshot? More kids are moved ahead with no solid evidence they’re ready. And despite the fact Fariña vowed “consistent levels of retention with this new approach.”
“After promising [not to] return to an era of social promotion, when struggling students were merely passed from grade to grade, Mayor de Blasio has deceptively halved the number of students receiving the critical summer-school education that they need,” said Kittredge. Kids will suffer. Why’s the city doing it? Because it makes it easier for schools to get floundering kids out of the system quicker.
