The best shrimp and grits I've ever had were at the Noisy Oyster at the corner of East Bay and Market Streets. If you are looking for a dessert place, check out Kaminsky's.
Shrimp and grits are also really good at Acme Seafood Kitchen on Isle of Palms. They have like 8 different ways to do them.
I would suggest doing at least one of the house tours. The Edmondson-Alston house is really nice, and you can buy a combo ticket to see it and go out to Middleton Place as well.
Search my posts on this board and you will find several threads on Charleston that I've contributed to (and tons of others have as well). Lots of good info.

Have you had it at Magnolias? Holy hell that was a good dish.

Just got back from a trip to Charleston. We took an anniversary vacation and drove all the way. New Orleans to Atlanta to Charleston back to Atlanta.
Loved the area. Stayed on Cannon St near King St. There are a ton of older homes that are remodeled and modernized and beautiful. Fort Sumter and Yorktown turned out to be a long ordeal but it was well worth it. We at at Anson the first night we were there. Next day we had lunch at Rodney Scott’s and dinner at Husk. Everything was top notch the entire trip and wife and I enjoyed every aspect of the place. Also, if you’re with a significant other or wife, be careful not to stare. The amount of women and scenery in Charleston was downright ridiculous. Wife watches that Southern Charm show and apparently, the ratio of women to men is astronomical and if you’re a guy “it’s basically a revolving door of good looking women in Charleston.” (her words)
