The weapon system turned me off big time at first but it eventually clicked and I didn't even think about it anymore.
It was soon after that I couldn't hold enough weapons even after spending the most korok seeds on weapon holding limit.

Yeah, the weapon deal eventually goes away. The main pain of it is at the beginning when you're fighting with skeleton arms and sticks, and then you get a real weapon... then it breaks and you're back to fighting with skeleton arms and sticks, which is just painful. Eventually I was dropping Royal Claymores out of my inventory because I would find another Royal Broadsword for sword and board vs. 2hand. Of course, that feels weird too.
"Hmmm.. I guess I'll just throw this Flaming Greatblade down on the ground here, because I'd rather have the Frostspear in my inventory."
