Because morons are still ignorantly accusing him of being racist over a decade later.

Of course. So he’s going to disrespect the all inclusive group that some of you defenders say he spoke to just to save face.

I guess next some of you are going to say that he did not vote against the MLK holiday in Louisiana two times.

He didn't speak to the group you claim he spoke to

Like I said, you are steadfast in your ignorance.

Did he ever give a reason for not voting for MLK day? I am not familiar with it, but I bet once the reasoning is given it won't fit the lazy trite narrative you morons are trying to perpetuate.

Is Scalise a racist? No – or at least, there is no evidence of that. Fellow Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, a Democrat, said of Scalise, “I don't think Steve Scalise has a racist bone in his body.” Scalise was an early supporter of Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, an Indian-American, even when Jindal was running against a white opponent backed by the GOP establishment. And a friend, Jeb Bruneau, told the Washington Post that he and Scalise coached a New Orleans basketball league of predominantly black young men in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After practices, which were at a gym next to a housing project, they took the players out to eat, Bruneau told the paper.

It’s true that Scalise voted against making Martin Luther King Day a holiday, but there are many reasons unrelated to race to do so. It certainly is a pretty lame test of someone’s commitment to racial harmony and respect for the civil rights movement.

What the frick are you rambling about?

The most logical and likely conclusion is that he doesn't remember details re: a speech 12 years prior to a group at a hotel conference room but believes he did give a speech to some group and clarified his position on race in advance if it turned out it was to questionable group.

So this is vague as frick and I haven't seen anything yet re: the MLK day votes, so is this the extent of your conclusion that he's racist?

Btw many local black leaders at the time this story came out completely vouched for his character and lack of racist beliefs.
