I am just about sick of reading about the QBs. Truth be told, it is always put out as if LSU Football's only missing piece, before winning their next championship, is the right QB. The QB position has only been part of the problem. I'm not going to talk about the coachs' schemes because I think enough of us know, whether it's admitted or not, that the offensive schemes have been a tremendous problem. LET'S INSTEAD TALK WIDE RECEIVERS!

Last Championship 2007.

Landy and OBJ played 2011-2013

A championship didn't come in those years. Since that duo, please tell me what receivers LSU has had that were DIFFERENCE MAKERS, IF we had the "right QB"?

Dural was mediocre. Dupre showed moments of potential but not greatness by any means. Quinn, well he transferred and was less than average when he left. Diarse, I'm not sure was given a fair chance. Tyron Johnson, if you remember him, transferred as well, I'm gonna assume because of playing time. Ferguson transferred and only had two catches before that. Chark and Gage, this past season was probably the most productive duo since 2013.

Let's not put the blame on the players though because, again, offensive schemes were the problem.

Now we have Anderson, Davis, Sullivan, Racey and Marshall, who are all between 6'3"-6'6", yet a true spread had not been implemented this Spring. Instead, as always, the ball is going to mainly one receiver, Giles (who is 5' 11") and the tight end.

That just makes no sense to me and to make matters worse, if I recall correctly, the tight end has the most receiving yards returning this year.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT!

We haven't really seen them play much but we're just goin to assume they're good. Just like we're goin to assume the RBs are good enough. BUT DONT ASSUME FOR A SECOND THAT NARCISSE WILL BE GOOD! We haven't seen him play enough

@ DCtiger1

What are you asking about? If it's the height, it's published. If it's where the ball is going, it's practices.

I'm not assuming shite about anyone on the offense. All are inexperienced and I'm concerned about all of it.

Giles is probably the most polished receiver.

And now we're bitching that we use the tight end in the passing game?

Giles isn't inexperienced.

The other receivers have played just not in a starting role.

The ball seems to be getting spread around so I’m not sure where you’re getting that info. However, It’s odd that you refer to OBJ and Landry and then complain about Giles because of his height? Giles is legit and the most experienced in the entire group.

quote:

Transformed into not only Texas Tech's leading receiver as a sophomore but one of the best wide outs in the country ... Appeared in all 12 games, including seven starts ... Led the Red Raiders with 1,158 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 69 catches ... Marked the most receiving yards by a Red Raider since Jace Amaro in 2013 ... His 13 touchdowns were the most by a Red Raider since Darrin Moore recorded the same total in 2012 ... Also led the team with 1,158 all-purpose yards

I have been saying for years now that we need to find quick fast receivers who run good routes, find the seam or get great separation, catch the ball and make yards after the catch. these big tall receivers just don't appear to make it happen. Yes, once in a while, one of these tall freaks will put it all together and become a beast, but its not often. I hate to use Bama as an example, but their recent top WR over the last few season -- the really fast quick guys, who are not huge -- give me nightmares.

Completely agree TigerLunatik. I just want to talk about something OTHER THAN QBs. For some reason, EVERY YEAR, the conversation is the right QB when it's ALWAYS MORE!

Sure. We have had qb issues but our receivers have had separation issues for years.

It is always more. Even though I'm not of the mind that Ensminger is the best option, I do believe that he is gonna design his game plan and offense around the players and not just piece the players into an offense like we've seen in years past.

i think we could surprise some people on offense. outside of the 2016 bama game and the redzone of 2016 UF i liked SE playcalling in 2016.
i pray get the TE involved this year and for the love of god lets pass over the middle on a consistent basis.

And just how would you know? They've been talking about four-wide. Do you think they're lying? (O-negative?)

Even if they're planning an all-out air raid, they wouldn't show it in open practices or the spring game. So again, how would you know?

Amen. That drove me nuts that they didn't throw the ball over the top of the LBs to loosen up the box and the go routes on the sideline for playaction.
