What are your surefire ways to minimize bugs around your outdoor hangout space?

The wife and I are in the process of transforming our outdoor space with furniture and landscaping - it's getting too nice outside to not have a spot to sit and enjoy it.
Now, I know that with increased use, bugs will naturally distance themselves, but are there any additional measures y'all take to keep your space "yours" and not "theirs?"
I already know I need to get a high-velocity fan for flyers and heat.

Get some Martin houses. If you are lucky and they nest there, they will take care of the skeeters.

It helps to identify any areas near your house that hold water. Even just a moist spot can lead to more gnats and mosquitoes.
Dry those up.
Dry those up.

Well I'm on a lake so...

I know my options are limited. Although, everyone's favorite radio personality, Matt Moscona claims that there's a mosquito company that came out and successfully treated their house even though they're on a lake, as well.

They're very present in our neighborhood. I've thought about this, but I'm worried that they'll think they own the place - they're VERY territorial, and I've already had issues with them in a light fixture before.

So no women around outside?

I’d be curious to hear reviews on those companies. They’re expensive and I’d want to be damn sure they keep mosquitoes away for at least a month before dropping hundreds of dollars.

I had basically the same question on the Outdoor Board about two weeks ago and this is what one poster said...
I took his advice sprayed my entire yard and patio area it drastically cut down on the amount of mosquitoes. I think in about two or three more applications, I won't see any.

Bifen it/ talstar is your answer. I spent $25 last summer on a bottle and $20 on a hand pump. Sprayed my yard and the surrounding neighbors (they agreed and we're appreciative). I have enough left over to spray again this summer. Takes me less than an hour to do all 5 yards.

Oscillating fan.
This may be the one and only key. It doesn't upset any ecosystem either. I also have a couple floor dryer/air movers that might become a permanent feature. They'd probably do a good job of circulating a breeze throughout the covered area.

We have someone come spray monthly. They spray our whole yard and do the inside every 3months.
