Just FYI - teams can (and have in the past) sign more than one person at any given position

Well no shite, but the Saints likely aren't going to overspend (which is what it will probably take to get Mathieu) on a position they just addressed.
Nobody is dealing in absolutes... it's just a numbers game. They may still be in the market for the position, but it's less likely now.
