the authoritarian intelligentsia who gets frustrated with the limits on their power created by the Constitution always find useful idiots to champion their cause and voluntarily support the stripping of our rights in the face of the preferred leviathan

for the "go to" example, look at FDR using the Great Depression to threaten our Supreme Court with court packing in order to have them bend the knee and authorize federal expansion that created this police state that we have today. willing mobs of people clamoring for emotional appeals of a tyrannical architect insidiously giving himself more power (which he used to racially discriminate all over the place, against black people with redlining and Japanese with internment)

these fascists HATE the fact that we don't have a similar government to the UK and our government can't just wave a magic wand and do whatever it wants. our government is limited, and many of those limitations come in the forms of our individual rights. when the tyrants want their way, they legitimately lose their minds fighting against the restrictions of these rights

the worst part is that the useful idiots parroting the talking points of their overlords (who want nothing more than these ignoramuses to voluntarily give more power to the overlords to rule over them) lie about it all. they act like the destruction of our liberty is temporary and to solve a short-term problem when they know it's just the first step in a process to tear away even more

i'm not making this post to give a "gotcha"...more of a mental framing. when you see their bullshite emotional arguments and their pathetic manipulation of those who are suffering, remember why they're doing it. it's because they literally hate limits on government and want to manipulate you into giving that away. and if they can't get you to do it, they will use those around you like parasites to guilt you into giving in.

Yep, they have explicitly stated this with respect to guns and healthcare. They hate the very framework that has made the US what it is. Really pisses me off because the framers were ingenious and crafted hundreds of years ago a system of government, with mandated and unassailable freedoms, that continues to function today. The fact that people want to do away with such a carefully thought out system due to emotional pleas is downright insane.

I can tell you have put a lot of thought into this. Every cliche has been exquisitely used.

I give you 9.8/10

They hate the fact a bunch of white dudes wrote something 200 years ago that they cannot beat. Really some guys 200 years ago are smarter than they ever could be and it drives them insane.

They sincerely believe they are doing this for your own good, and that's what makes it so frightening.

I agree with 100% of what you said, but I believe its too late. The damage has already been done. I see no possible path for the US to return to a state more inline with the constitution. The trajectory we are headed, while thrown off course slightly from the last election, cannot be changed via the electoral processes.

The only way I see any change happening is from a cataclysmic event such as a great war.

I agree. These bastard fascists who try to change the Constitution just to suit their authoritarian goals make me sick. The Second Amendment clearly says that the right to bear arms is subject to being "well regulated." And yet these filth come here and assert that the "well regulated" clause doesn't exist because it doesn't support their authoritarian bullying. We aren't going to take it anymore.

Well regulated means well regulated. It is in the Constitution and we intend to stick with it.

The whole reason the U.S. Constitution exists.

As long as everyone remembers we need to protect it from all enemies, foreign AND domestic, it will survive for a whole lot longer.

I think today, more than any other time in my life, personal freedoms are openly under attack.

I'm a Southerner born and bred but living up here in the Granite State leads me to appreciate it's motto, heralded by Gen. John Stark:

"Live Free Or Die!"
