Ok, I'm looking at things a little different I guess.
For grades 1-7 they will be paying between $4500 and $5,000 a year on tuition.
There are also charter and magnet schools to consider in Nola and Jefferson Parish and yes the northshore has good free schools.
Would mom or someone else be able to help out during the summer? Does everyone have to send there kids to after care every day?
Once the oldest kid is 15 they can start watching the others during the summer some weeks.
I didn't read the whole thread so sorry if I'm responding about things already covered.

I think OP considered the cities only (not burbs) and I'd choose BR because the money would go further there. That's not exactly well off in Nola for a family of 5 and I wouldn't want to live in Shreveport (Bossier not included) and definitely not Alexandria

Lol, only if you’re sending your kids to Catholic school. Trinity, St. George, et al are well over $10k.
