I have two Patriots in my direct bloodline. One fought with George Rogers Clark and was given land in what is now Indiana for his service. The other fought in the Carolinas.
I also have 25 or so CSA soldiers - both direct and collateral; and 3 or 4 Billy Yanks - all collateral - in my tree. I can put someone in my tree at every major battle of the Civil War outside of Ft. Sumter. One direct ancestor and his brother were wounded during the Battle of Atlanta. Another direct ancestor was part of an artillery battery that served at Cumberland Gap, fought at Chickamauga and Knoxville. Collateral ancestors were killed at Chickasaw Bayou and Perryville, and died at Point Lookout as a POW and near Murfreesboro due to catching an illness after Stones River.
