My grandfathers WWII medals
Bronze Star
Purple Heart x 2
Distinguished Unit citation
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign
The badass motherfricker charged between two mg nests drawing their fire while his squad flanked them. He got cut down, taking a round in each knee. This was at Bloody Anzio in 1944. Went AWOL from the hospital and served in his company’s supply office until they all went home in 1946.
His company went from N.Africa to Sicily to Italy.
I could buy Trump Tower tomorrow and those medals would still be the most valuable thing I’ve ever owned to me.

What outfit? My grandfather was 9th Infantry, part of Operation Torch, captured by Germans at El Guettar a few months after first landing in Nov 1942..
