I agree that divorce is terrible and that the breakdown of the nuclear family is largely the root cause of what ails our society, but this study leaves out so many factors like number of children, parental education levels, addiction, legal issues, etc.

My parents went through an awful divorce when I was 6 but we had a great familial support system, and my brother and I have 4 degrees between us and lead normal, stable lives that involve both parents. That’s not to say that children of divorce net out fine regularly, but that there are mitigating environmental factors that can determine the long term stability of the child(ren).

Couldn't imagine being a young man married today. People make poor decisions daily on social media and air out personal business. Also married couples texting all day long seems extremely unhealthy.

I see this all the time and it aggravates the hell out of me. People need to learn to internialize marital strife, keep it in house, and resolve it behind closed doors. Don’t post your marital issues on social media (this is rank insanity), and don’t go running to mom or dad the minute you and your spouse have a fight.

I don't know why people keep mentioning how many degrees they have. You can have long term mental and/or emotional issues with a PhD in any subject. Anyways, statistically there remains that possibility if you've gone through a divorce as a child before the age of 16.
