O has been acting stubborn throughout the process. O wants a loyal person in a prominent offensive position because he knows the pressure is on right now. Ensminger is that guy O trust and is an excellent coach. However, JA knows he can't just sell Ensminger because he knows the knives are out for him also.
O wants Sully also. I am not sure how Sully will be worked in the staff but will somehow IT will be interesting.

This may not be the thread to discuss this but I’ll ask anyway—should we be excited if Gilbert were hired? I hadn’t heard his name until this past week

Too many cooks in the kitchen. No true leader if it's an O, Ensminger, and Gilbert combo. I agree that O trusts Ensminger. I can't see him putting 100% trust in a youngster like Gilbert and giving him the reigns.
And Alleva is acting as mediator here. This is what politicians do...try to appease everyone if possible. Give both O and fans what they want.
This will buy the current LSU regime time in the off season from all the heat, but then the dysfunction will hit during the season I'm afraid.
