Anybody heard anything along these lines? Had a sauce tell me he heard that Canada's departure could be more than just bumping heads with O and that Canada might have been a little sketchy on the crootin trail.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying there's any truth to this. Just asking if anybody else heard anything similar.

Sauce brought up a good point. Why would Canada settle for a lessor buyout? If got fired without cause he should have received his full buyout, right? Perhaps they reached a settlement to have everybody save face.

Thoughts?

This has been mentioned on the recruiting board. Look for threads about Matthew Baldwin.

Don't know. That's why I'm asking.

Search Matthew Baldwin on the recruiting board. Shouldn't be hard to find.

It's a pain in the arse. Why can't anyone just say it? Ive looked through several threads and there's nothing that stands out besides O sending Canada on meaningless recruiting trips.

Basically rumor is Canada told him on a recruiting trip he wasn’t going to be at lsu much longer and parents, who are lsu alumni, called O and let him know. That’s about all I know about it

He has known since November they were letting him go, I mean did they really trust him to keep recruiting? If my company tells me they are going to let me go at the end of the month, do they really think I'm gonna give it 100% afterwards?

Then he was being honest with a kid, so the kid didn't come to LSU to play under Canada. I see nothing wrong with this.

Because I'm not going to perpetuate rumors I have no idea are true or not.

Mike gave you the gist of it and there are stronger accusations that have been made, but it's all along the same lines.

And if that's all there is then there might not be anything to what I posted. Again, I didn't come here to report anything as if I was in the know. I came here to seek more information.

Yeah. I know you were just asking. The whole thing doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

We never even offered this recruit.

If Canada was definitely leaving, why was he on the road recruiting?

Was he just being honest with a recruit and his family, it was he being negative about his current employer?

Canada comes out smelling like a rose if he gets a reasonably high paying OC gig. Say he gets 1 mil/yr, over the next 2 years he nets 3.7 million whereas at LSU he would have made a total of 3 mil over the same period. He'll likey make at least 700k more than he would have had he been retained.

I was highly skeptical of the "fools errand" narrative, but seeing how everything played out, I think I was wrong to doubt it so vehemently. Two of the main guys he visited, Corral and Baldwin, never even got offered and one of the other ones, Rising, was a long time Texas commit from California who visited LSU in the summer of 2016, but hadn't really been on anyone's radar for a while.

I've got a feeling Canada was just being honest with the recruits he was assigned to visit and there was nothing too sinister about it.

Well, this all still seems post-whatever happened between O and Canada. That’s when Canada’s fate seems to have been sealed.

LSU was on the hook for 3.3, not 3.

$800k/year is the break even point, probably close to inline with what he can get elsewhere.

Why are there so many accountants on here trying to calculate "who's going to come out ahead" here? I think it's great that it's a clean break and we don't have to worry about Canada finding employment so we can realize any of that offset.
