Heard about Nest, Simplisafe, Abode, Smartthings, etc

What’s the boards recommendation? I just want easy, cheap, and can work with my phone. I don’t want monthly charges just notifications to my phone and loud noises.

I have a couple Arlo Pro cameras I’m going to set up at the new house and would just need some motion sensors and window/door sensors as well. Simplisafe seems ok but I think you have to pay for a monthly plan to get your phone involved unless I read that wrong.

TIA

I have abode. No complaints from me, works well and integrates with a bunch of stuff. It's also a smart home hub if you need to use it for that as well.

I have Eatel. They want an extra $20 a month to connect to my existing door lock. Crock of shite.

If Ring ever gets the court injunction lifted, their Ring Protect looks to be pretty badass

Blink Wireless. Started as a crowdfunded venture and got bought out by Amazon last week. I’ve been incredibly happy with my two camera system.

Full 720p video and audio triggered by motion detection included in the AppleTV-sized upright positionable puck. Upon detection it records six seconds in full color. Kicks the motion detection back on after 6 seconds. If it detects again, it triggers six more seconds. Low light triggers an LED light to go with video capture. Newer versisons have night vision capability.

Clips are stored in the cloud (soon to be via AWS I’m sure) and you get 60 minutes worth of them stored online for free forever. Accessed online using their free app or via PC/laptop. Alerts sent immediately upon detection triggers. Live look ins. App controlled.

No monitoring fees. No monthly charges. Buy the system and that’s the only cost. Ever. Integrated with Alexa and they just debuted a doorbell product.

The cameras are-literally-Wireless. They’ve been running on two AAA batteries in each puck. For a little over two years.

Best $175 I’ve spent in a long while...

I think arlo pro is good enough. Most of the wifi cams nowadays have monthly cloud fee, though there are some that doesn't. I just feel like it's batteries aren't so great.

Wifey wants the door/window sensors plus the 2 Arlo Pro cams I bought. It makes sense, the cams will just show us who took our stuff
