I've been to both Exuma and Provo (Turks). I found that Exuma had better water based activities. Snorkeling may not be as accessible as the reef right off Grace Bay though. As long as you are ok with forgoing the nice restaurants that you would find on Turks then I would 100% recommend Exuma.

Yeah, the food on Exuma certainly appears to not be at the level of a T&C or Anguilla or Harbour Island, but that’s not a deal breaker for this trip. We’ll likely be back to Anguilla in 2019. I can live with casual dining, especially since we’ll almost certainly have a kitchen in wherever we rent (if we choose there)

Depends where you are on Grace Bay. There is no reef off of most of the beach. There is Smith Reef but proximity depends on where you’re staying on Grace Bay. You could be miles from that reef and still be on Grace Bay Beach.
