Beards disappeared when indoor plumbing and hot water at the turn of a faucet became commonplace. Facial hair is a pain in the arse. Almost every guy who can grow a beard does so at some point. Almost every one of them gets tired of it eventually and shaves it off.

I haven’t shaved my beard in over a decade.

I don’t plan on ever shaving it.

How is it a pain in the arse?

About once a week I run a trimmer through my beard. That’s a lot less trouble than shaving.

And food doesn’t get caught in my beard.
That’s like saying you don’t wear shirts because they get food stains on them.
Stop being a slob.

5 years running with mine.
It's not like a Civil War General beard but it's not hard to keep up.
