You give Cousins $30mil then some unit or part of that team is going to be $30mil worse, probably the defense. So you no longer have a great defense, and then you're stuck with a $30mil QB who is a fringe top 10 QB in the league who isn't carrying you anywhere but since you're paying him that much, you're lacking elsewhere so you need him to carry you...and again, he can't.
