Tell him to train a lot, not just shooting at the range, but going through scenarios as well, including what to do and not to do. Yes, you feel stupid sitting in your car alone going through this but it's the same element of training as anything else. Even better, but some of those snap cap bullets that you can pull the trigger on to add to it.

Probably a good idea. His carjacking efforts will undoubtedly have more success if he is armed.
