My parents were registered Democrats like most of their generation in the south but always voted for Republicans. I was the nerdy kid who watched the news every night before CNN and Fox, etc. I read newspapers and tried to keep up with current events. I was pretty moderate throughout college. It was the fiasco in FL with the “hanging chads” that got me actively engaged. The blatant attempt to steal that election opened my eyes. I don’t believe mainstream media’s reporting anymore and always go read reports on my own without their “interpretation”. I read bills, follow SCOTUS hearings, etc. and make up my own mind. It just so happens that I agree with the “conservative” viewpoint/philosophy/whatever you want to call it the vast majority of the time.
